A few Heirloom tomatoes & a question....

I'm still in the veggie mood at the minute, although in between I am slowly working on an order for cakes &  I mean slowly...perhaps it's the January blues, but I seem to be working more & more slowly at the minute.  It doesn't really help the work rate when I have given up smoking in the house, so I am "downing tools" too often to pop outside for a smoke :-)
Anyway, between sitting outside in the rain or snow in a coat & with an umbrella.....if anyone could see me, I must look like the local nutter...some would say that that is exactly what I am!.....I have managed to fill a basket that has been sitting looking accusingly at me for a couple of weeks now.....

Now I have a question! Does anyone actually read blogs these days or has good old FaceBook ruined them as well? I'm finding that more & more people just don't bother with groups or blogs anymore, but seem to be forever posting on FB.......why, I wonder...when there's absolutely no real support, interest or help from FB. How many of your "friends" are people you actually know & how many of them can you turn to for a little advice on a project you are working on?  I do know that the friends that are to be found on www.cdhm.org are always willing to help with a mini problem, so why is it that it seems  everybody prefers the anonymity of FB.....is it because it's easy? OK, that's my "rant" over for now....but I really would like to know why.........

WOW! Those tomatoes are beautiful!!
The colors are perfect!

I can't tell you about Facebook because I decided loooong ago that I would never have an account. I also don't Tweet.

I am very sad to hear that so many people have left CDHM and or are not interested in Blogs.

I really want to hear why people prefer Fackbook. I look forward to reading the answers. I am so glad you asked this question. XXX

I do have a facebook account but I don't use it that much. I only have a handful of friends on it as I am not interested in building numbers. It is a means of keeping in touch with a few people. As far as miniatures go it is blogs all the way. I love reading everyone's blogs and have one of my own. Facebook could never replace a blog as far as I am concerned. I love the way everyone shares information.

I get on facebook about once or twice a week, most of the people I have friended are also mini bloggers. I read and follow more blogs than you can shake a stick at, or several sticks for that matter. The big benefit of linking your blog to FB is that if I don't have time to comment, I can quick hit the like button to show you I enjoyed the post and read it. Wordpress also has that option, whereas most google blogs do not.

Lovely tomatoes :D

Those tomatoes look very appetizing. Some of those sliced up with a bit of cheese and I would be a happy boy.

I agree completely about FB and it is funny you brought it up because I was just saying to someone the other day that it seems more and more people use FB and the blogs and forums are dwindling. So sad really because I don't see the advantages of FB. To me it is more of a way to keep in touch with some close people who live far away. Other than that I see it as a huge invasion of privacy.

BLOGS ALL THE WAY!! I love the companionship and friends I have made in the blogs.

I'm not on facebook and have never really felt drawn to it. I have felt left out from my friends' lives without, but not enough to give in and sign up. :D I love blogging and reading blogs...so I'll be here if you will.

Me too, I don't 'get'facebook at all, I don't really want to look at 'everyone's' photos, I would sooner talk on the phone or email. I won't be quitting bloggin in the foreseeable future, I love it and read blogs almost every day, although I don't always comment.

No FB for me either, too anonymous, too slick. Groups are only as good as their members...I'm closing my ShabbyChicMiniatures group this month due to lack of interest. I love blogs, no pressure and you know when someone takes time to comment that they really mean it.

I have a FB account but I use it about one time in two weeks. It's boring...
I think the big benefit of FB is that you can use it very easy on your mobile phone!

I prefere to take a look at blogs using the computer! I stay tuned :-)

Hugs, Lina

By the way... the tomatoes look delicious!

To your question about FB and the blogs: Yes,since I use Facebook for me it's more my platform. It's easier, more personally. I still use my blog, but Facebook is something I use every day. It's not only ,that it is easier to show ,what I do at the moment. Facebook shows miniatures, which I never have seen before. I get news about shows, helpful tips, links, etc.! Chatting with friends, I don't prefer that. I still use the good old mails. But I see many of my friends and new persons I have met, use the chat room in FB. I must admit, that I never used Cdhm for helping me with problems. So I can't give a opinion to this. I only know, that Cdhm is doing everything for their members in FB and I'm very thankful for that. Jeannette
BTW,The heirloom tomatoes are fantastic in this basket :-)

I love blogs. They interest me. I am not a fan of FB. I hope blogs never go away. I follow a bunch. It's great. Get a block of time. A cuppa of something delish. And either learn, laugh or cry -- depending upon the subject. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel I know the bloggers as friends.

If you hadn't put the basket on your finger.....Oh these are beautiful! So very real :) Facebook? Thumbs down from me. I don't want to be on there...at all. I love the forums and blogs.

It's really interesting reading your responses to the FB question! I have to say that I actually hate it! Yes, I use it, but mainly as an advertising venue & to keep up easily with my daughter out in UAE...but I still find that even that is not really wonderful on FB as there are so many posts that appear on my timeline that are of absolutely no interest whatsoever to me, that my family posts never appear! I have tried their system of choosing what posts you get & from whom...but it just doesn't work & I STILL find that I don't get the posts from people that I'm interested in getting! Sadly, it does seem that FB is the future, thanks mainly to the ease of uploading photographs....I just think it's sad...

facebook and blogs both have their place. It is a different style of writing.

If you have never been a part of the Instant Messaging scene that started about 15 years ago you simply won't "get it". The younger generation grew up on IM and it solved that issue of the teens always hogging the telephone. If you put it in context you can begin to understand why Facebook is popular. Short, quick messages are how they learned to communicate with friends basically out of necessity.

Much like flavors of ice cream or toppings on pizza on the internet there is something to please everyone.

I ONLY read blogs (and browse Pinterest cuz I am so much more visual). I dislike Facebook. There is nothing creative about it. MY DH is on FB every night, but he only friends actual friends and family.

I started a FB fan page, etc. but find it pretty much a bore. I prefer to check my blog list every day on Reader and see all the lovely minis!
